New roofs and re-roofing

Re-roofing involves stripping the existing covering, checking the timbers beneath and rebuilding the roof with new underlay, battens and covering. It is the point at which any underlying problems become visible and can be dealt with.

Flat roofs are common on extensions, dormers and garages. The important elements are the falls, the drainage and the detailing at the edges and upstands. That is where flat roofs fail.

Questions about roofing

Do I need a full new roof or just repairs?

It depends on the condition of the covering and the timbers underneath. We will look at it and give you an honest assessment rather than defaulting to the larger job.

Do you do flat roofs on extensions?

Yes. Flat roofs form part of much of our extension work, including the detailing around rooflights and lanterns.

Can you fit rooflights into an existing roof?

In many cases yes, though it depends on the roof structure. We will look at the rafters and the span before confirming.
